The Story

I wanted to connect an “older” and “newer” conception of Filipino maximalism. What emerges is an often feminized love for collecting beautiful (or cute!), treasured avatars and objects, making a very loose analogy between anik-anik girlies and our lolas who love their Mama Mary statuettes. Also, I wanted to play with the idealized feminine character: chaste and reserved, versus a modern Filipina who might want to evade those ideals.
